American warplanes launched a series of air strikes on Iranian militia positions in the city of Deir ez-Zor and its countryside, starting at 12:00 am local time
Euphrates Post correspondents said: American aircraft bombed militia positions near Al-Rahba Castle in the Al-Mayadeen desert in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, in addition to bombing military points in the area of Al-Haydariyah and Al-Hashimiyeh farms in the badia of city.Al-Haydariyah Farms is considered one of the most important strongholds of the Iranian militias in the city of Al-Mayadeen, as it includes weapons and ammunition depots and training camps for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard militia
The planes also bombed militia sites near the automated bakery on Port Said Road in the center of Deir ez-Zor, and other sites near Deir ez-Zor Military Airport, in addition to a site in Hawija Sakir.In the western countryside of the city, aircraft destroyed weapons depots in the village of Ayyash, which contains the largest militia weapons depots in Deir ez-Zor. The aircraft also bombed another site in the town of Al-Tabni
In a related context, aircraft bombed several militia sites in the city of Albukamal, east of Deir ez-Zor, including a headquarters for the Lebanese Hezbollah militia in the Al-Sinaa neighborhood, and another headquarters for the Iraqi Hezbollah in the Humaydah area near the Syrian-Iraqi border.Initial information received from Euphrates Post correspondents indicates that there were deaths and injuries among the militia ranks in Deir ez-Zor, in addition to heavy losses in the targeted sites
These raids come in response to the killing of 3 American soldiers as a result of Iranian militias targeting a base housing American forces near the Syrian-Jordanian border with a drone last Monday.US President Joe Biden said that the American raids on Iranian militia sites in Syria and Iraq will continue for several days, noting that the facilities that were targeted were being used by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard militia to attack American forces
Militias and groups loyal to Iran are spread in several locations in Syria, and the city of Deir ez-Zor is considered the main stronghold of these militias due to its strategic location in addition to being a border city with Iraq
